Power transformer suppliers can rely on Midwest to provide transfer tanks (transformer containment vessels) and other fabricated items which meet their most demanding design requirements, while still adhering to their critical delivery timelines.

Rebuilding / Repair

At Midwest Machining and Fabricating, we have the equipment and experience necessary to fulfill all of your industrial machine rebuilding needs.

Our new “strip and advise” program is designed to take the guesswork out of major component repair or replacement.
For a nominal fee, we’ll bring your assembly or machine into our shop, disassemble it, and provide a firm quote for restoring your item to like-new condition. You then have the information needed to determine whether it’s better to re-furbish the item or order a new one. Rather than being at the mercy of a “time and material” repair, you’ll have no surprises and total control over the final cost of your project.

If your machine or assembly has been around for a long period of time, there’s also a good chance that you no longer have drawings or a source for parts.
Not a problem…we can provide drawings, patterns, castings, finished machined replacement parts and fully assembled components as required by your particular situation. Since all charges are determined after the component is disassembled and inspected, you’ll receive firm cost information throughout every phase of the project.

Let us help you reduce costs and downtime while staying within your project budget.
Our experienced fabricators can provide re-built machine components and assemblies which meet or exceed OEM specifications… all within a time frame to meet your most demanding project deadline.

“We’ll guarantee 100% interchangeability with your original assemblies.”
Coke Oven Doors

One of Midwest Machining and Fabricating’s specialties is the rebuilding of coke oven door assemblies for the iron and steel industry. Midwest’s long-term vendor-client partnerships have allowed them to develop an expertise in rebuilding these complicated assemblies which sets them apart from their competition.

If insufficient manpower is making it difficult to keep up with re-building your coke oven doors, please give us a call. We can provide re-built assemblies at a reasonable price and within a time frame to meet your requirements.

Crane Drum Assembly

This crane drum assembly was shipped to our plant for disassembly and inspection. It was determined that our customer could save significantly by having us re-furbish this assembly rather than purchase a new one. Aside from the cost savings, our quick turn-around times also resulted in a much shorter downtime period for the project.

Let us help you reduce maintenance costs and maintenance downtime.

Mine Truck Wheel

This wheel belongs to an off-road salt mine truck. Rather than purchasing new components, this wheel was re-furbished and machined to like-new condition at significant savings to our customer.

Instead of automatically discarding machine components, take advantage of our “strip and advise” program. For a nominal fee, we’ll disassemble and evaluate your component, and then provide a firm quote for refurbishing your component to factory-new specifications.

Press Crankshaft

This press crankshaft was shipped to our plant for inspection to determine whether or not a new part would be required from the OEM.

Our customer achieved significant savings by allowing us to re-furbish the assembly rather than purchasing a new replacement crankshaft. Worn surfaces of the shaft were hard-surfaced and re-machined to original factory specs..

Our customer was able to stay within his machine maintenance budget, while also minimizing the downtime for this particular press.

The next time you have a worn machine part or assembly, please give us a call. There’s a good chance we can also save you some money.

Reverse Engineered Stainless Impeller

This photo shows a stainless steel impeller which was reverse-engineered in our shop based on a portion of the original impeller and no engineering drawings.

Our design staff inspected the partial impeller and created engineering drawings. Tooling was then designed and manufactured, and a stainless steel casting was created. Final machining was then completed in our machine shop.

Our customer received an OEM compatible finished piece and engineering drawings for future reference. All facets of the project were handled under a single purchase order.

The next time you have a worn machine part or assembly and no idea where to get replacements, please give us a call. We can provide a replacement at a reasonable price, within an expedited time frame to help minimize your machine downtime.

Rolling Mill Roll & Chocks

This rolling mill roll and chocks (bearing housing) assembly was shipped to our plant for disassembly and inspection prior to providing a rebuild quotation.

Our customer achieved significant savings by allowing us to re-furbish the assembly rather than purchasing all new replacement parts. Where needed, worn surfaces were hard-surfaced and re-machined to original factory specs..

Our customer was able to reduce his maintenance costs, while also minimizing the downtime for this particular assembly.

The next time you have a worn machine part or assembly, please give us a call. There’s a good chance we can save you some money.

Expanding Mandrel for sheet steel coiling

The photos above show several phases of a total expanding mandrel rebuild for one of our steel customers. This piece of machinery is used for the coiling of steel sheet during the production process. As part of our “strip and advise” program, this machine was brought into our plant, disassembled, sand-blasted and cleaned. All parts were measured, and a complete “strip report”…including total cost and lead time…was provided to our customer. After receiving repair approval, all worn parts were repaired or replaced, and the machine was re-assembled and tested to insure that all components were working as expected. The machine was painted, prepared for shipment, and returned to the customer in like-new condition.

If you have an older piece of machinery in need of repair, and you’ve been trying to determine whether it’s time to scrap it and purchase a new machine…give us a call. Our “strip and advise” program can help you determine whether repair or replacement is your best option.
